Margaret Coe graduated with a BA in English Literature.
As a transfer student from University of Victoria (UVic), Margaret came to UBC having taken a sampling of university courses in a variety of disciplines. At UVic, she took courses ranging between invertebrate zoology, political science, computer science and English literature.
After graduating with a BA in English Literature from UBC, Margaret enrolled in the recreation facilities management program at BCIT. This translated into an aquatics position at Canada Games Pool in New Westminster. Margaret enjoyed working there for many years as a lifeguard, swimming instructor, and lifeguard supervisor; she really enjoyed teaching swimming to all ages and I loved working with children.
In 1989, Margaret enrolled in UBC’s two year Elementary Education program and graduated in 1991. Margaret earned a position in Surrey that same summer.
To supplement her education, she took courses leading to an Art Education Diploma in 2003. For 7 years, Margaret taught as an Art and Drama specialist at David Brankin Elementary, a Fine Arts School in Surrey where we integrated the curriculum with the fine arts.
Currently, Margaret proudly teaches at Berkshire Park Elementary. She has a keen interest in Shakespeare and has adapted five of his plays for student performance. Margaret also write stories for the children in her class.
Margaret’s career evolution all started with a love of reading, and a Bachelor of Arts degree!
