Do you remember your first day at UBC? Whether it was filled with excitement or apprehension (or a bit of both), your orientation likely played some part in easing your transition to UBC life.

Getting involved as an Orientation Leader is a great way to support new-to-UBC students who may be just as nervous as you once were. As an Orientation Leader, you’ll be the first point-of-contact for new students. You’ll also gain leadership skills, build connections, and contribute to your community. There are several different positions to consider. Not sure where to start? Read on to find your perfect role.


Jump Start Orientation Leaders

Jump Start Orientation Leaders have a paid full-time role from the last week of August to early September. This is a great option if you’re looking to gain experience during the summer. Jump Start Orientation Leaders lead a one-week academic preparation program designed to support students in their transition to university life.

Imagine UBC Orientation Leaders

Imagine UBC Orientation Leaders are volunteers who support a group of new students on Imagine day. Imagine UBC leaders have a shorter time commitment while still receiving valuable training experience.

Senior Orientation Leaders (Jump Start and Imagine UBC)

Senior Orientation Leaders are ambitious students who want to take on a senior leadership role in the UBC community. As a Senior Orientation Leader, you will assist with the facilitation of orientation leader recruitment, hiring, and training. If you are available to participate in comprehensive training in August, you are eligible to apply to be a paid full-time Senior Jump Start Orientation Leader. If you are looking for something with a shorter time commitment, being a Senior Imagine UBC Orientation Leader would be a great match.
