Noa Moses (they/them), BA’05 English and JD’16 Noa Moses is in-house legal counsel at the Hospital Employees Union, where they practice union-side labour law. Prior to joining the HEU, Noa worked in Aboriginal and Indigenous law, class action litigation, criminal defence (specializing in wrongful convictions), and constitutional law. Noa has advocated on behalf of 2SLGBTQ+ people since law school, including by providing legal services through QMUNITY’s Trans ID Clinic and the Catherine White Holman Wellness Centre.
Praveen Sandhu (she/her), BA’98 Political Science and JD’16 Prof. Praveen Sandhu is a distinguished professional in the field of mediation and arbitration, a natural progression from a career in commercial litigation in Vancouver. Her current practice is international but primarily in Canada. Praveen has a number of designations from recognized institutions and numerous professional affiliations across the globe. And it all started here, at UBC, with her undergraduate degree in Political Science and then her Juris Doctor from the Allard School of Law. She has been a lawyer since 2004.
Will Tao (he/him), BA’11 International Relations and History and JD’14, LLM’24 Will Tao is a Canadian Immigration, Refugee Citizenship, Public and Administrative Lawyer interested in the intersection between law, policy, and research. He co-founded Heron Law Offices in 2021 to provide legal services in all areas of Canadian immigration and refugee law with a particular focus on complex refusals, appeals, and judicial reviews of international student, family class, and foreign worker-related applications.
Saralyn Purdie (she/her), BA’14 Philosophy Starting her career with an unpaid internship after her first year at UBC, Saralyn is now an associate lawyer at an established entertainment law firm in Toronto. Between her undergrad in philosophy and a subsequent law degree in the UK, she worked with well-known pop, rock and country artists at one of Canada’s biggest independent record labels. Saralyn was called to the BC bar in 2022, and is now on the board of directors for Music BC and represents music clients across the country.
