Drag up and drop by Koerner’s Pub for a night of experimental drag performances with our very own UBC alumni Maiden China and Continental Breakfast, led by UBC’s unofficial Drag Queen on call, Exter, formerly Maddoria and our crown prince of chromatica (a.k.a Korean Jesus CountCupid). Enjoy our favorite gay bar golden hits with DJ EASYBAKECOVEN on beats.
Artist – Continental Breakfast
Continental Breakfast is an indigenous non-binary Drag performance artist and cultural event producer. They are Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree and are a settler on the stolen lands of the Txʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. They work as a host, dancer, and performer in the alternative art scene. They aim to help empower strong existence of the non-binary community, and the importance of diversity in art. They have produced shows such as Late Night Snack, Blackout: A Britney Spears Drag Musical, and The Darlings. They also co-founded the Vancouver production company, Queer Based Media. Find them on Instagram @contibreakfast.
Artist – Maiden China (She/They)
Maiden China is an intersectional non-binary feminist drag performance artist who disrupts identity expectations and liberates audiences by inducing vulnerability. Maiden China’s
drag explores the concept of the “hyphen”, liminal states of embodied being, and incorporates elements of classical Chinese opera, queer theory, resistance politics, and intimate contact performance art.
Born into the nightlife performance scene in 2016 in so-called “Vancouver, BC”, They perform regularly as a member of the House of Rice, an all-Asian drag family, as well as one of The Darlings, a non-binary drag performance collective. Find them on Instagram @queenmaidenchina.
Artist – DJ EASYBAKECOVEN (She/They)
easy bake coven (she/they) is an east van-based DJ spinning all the queer sounds: 90s club kid, 80s gay bar gold, disco and divas, remix and house, guilty treasures and throwbacks. Back in pre-covid times, they were the (co)organizer of the club kid-inspired queer party RHYTHM of THE NiGHT. In her day job as a PhD student, she studies & teaches queer history. Find them on Instagram @easybake_coven.
Host – Exter (He/Him)
Jokingly referred to by friends as being UBC’s drag queen on call, Exter (formerly Maddoria) has performed and hosted events across campus and the lower mainland. Starting from an idea to go to prom in drag as a joke, they have developed into their new alternative style, and taken on new roles such as organizing this past UBC Pride. Find them on Instagram @liam.exter.
Host – Count Cupid (He/They)
Goth human by day and poorly-lit goth creature by night, Count Caligula von Cupid aka the drag persona of 3rd-year Anthropology undergraduate Gray Park (he/they) is the Valentinian vampire prince of so-called “Vancouver”’s vibrant drag scene. Count Cupid is a proudly trans and non-binary South Korean diaspora artist and fan of all things spooky. Blending sentimental longing with high-octane industrial metal, they’d love to bring a little love and sparkle into your life! Find them on Instagram @countcupid.
