CANCELLED: Breakfast with the Bard

DATE
Saturday April 2, 2022
TIME
8:40 AM - 11:00 AM

Unfortunately this event has been cancelled.

An exclusive engagement with Shakespeare exhibition curator Dr. Gregory Mackie and a private viewing of the newly acquired First Folio.

Breakfast, rare books, and the Bard — on Saturday, April 2, join Dr. Gregory Mackie, associate professor in the UBC Department of English Language and Literatures and Norman Colbeck curator at UBC Library Rare Book and Special Collections, for an intimate talk and Q&A about the Library’s recent acquisition of a first edition of William Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies—an extremely rare book published in 1623, seven years after Shakespeare’s death, and credited with preserving almost half of his plays.

Following your engagement with Dr. Mackie, you’ll have the chance to view the Vancouver Art Gallery’s exhibit For All Time: The Shakespeare FIRST FOLIO  with a small group – before it opens to the public for the day. The exhibit showcases the First Folio alongside three subsequent seventeenth-century Folio editions of Shakespeare’s plays, marking the first time all four Folios have been displayed in Vancouver.
