The Arts Career Design Studio is a cohort-based, two-day intensive program for undergraduate Arts students across all majors and year levels. This Studio seeks to create a safe space for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and allies to learn tools to design a meaningful path through their Arts degrees and think about life after graduation.
Through the Studio you will develop skills to conduct an effective job search, including considerations around assessing opportunities for a fit with who you are and your values; practice telling your story verbally and in writing, including considerations around disclosing parts of your identity; and have the opportunity to meet with professionals employed in various industries who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. Sessions will be co-facilitated by members of these communities who will share their lived experiences and career journeys.
As this is the first time we’ve offered the Studio with a focus on supporting students in specific communities, we will invite student participants to be co-creators with us during the Studio, and provide feedback on their experience after, to help shape and improve future iterations of the studio for their peers.
This program will take place in-person at multiple locations in downtown Vancouver: the workshops will be held at UBC’s Robson Square campus, and the meetings with professionals will be held at their workplaces. Given space constraints as well as the level of coordination that it requires to plan this off-campus program, we kindly request that you register to participate in this program by Monday, April 22.
Students are strongly encouraged to attend the full Studio program, and those who do participate in the full series will be recognized with a document showing that they have completed an intensive professional development program.
