How did your economics degree prepare you for life after graduation
It provided me with a set of analytical tools that help me formulate precise questions about complex economic phenomena.
Why did you choose the BIE program? Why study economics at UBC?
Great professors that are passionate about their work and genuinely care about their students. There are also plenty of opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences inside and outside the classroom such as Go Global, ORICE placements abroad, research assistantships, etc.
Its international focus and the small class sizes. After graduating from a high school in India with students from 80 different nationalities I was looking to continue my education in a similarly diverse environment.
What skill have you learned with your degree that you value the most?
Analytical thinking: using data to solve intricate problems.
What was your most memorable or best experience as a student?
My favourite learning experience at UBC has been co-leading an economic development project on quinoa’s production and commercialization in the Bolivian Andes as part of UBC’s International Service Learning program.
What advice do you have for BIE students?
Be passionate about your work; choose quality over quantity.
Favourite place in Vancouver?
Volunteer Park at sunset.
