Resources to review before contacting advising

Drop-in Advising

Drop-in advising is offered to all currently-registered UBC Arts undergraduate students.

Hours

In-person: Monday – Thursday, 1pm – 4pm
Virtual: Friday, 1pm – 4pm

Scheduling note: On Thursday, November 28, 2024, we will offer virtual drop-in advising from 9:30am – 11:00am. The office will close at 11:30am.

The queue will close early if we reach capacity for the day.

Arts Academic Advising uses a virtual queuing system so that you can join the line for drop-in advising at your convenience. Providing a phone number during sign-in allows you to receive updates on wait times and easily manage your spot in the queue via text message. You’ll receive a text message and/or email when you reach the front of the line.

Advising Appointments

Advising appointments are for currently-registered UBC Arts undergraduate students. Check our list of self-serve online advising services as you may not need to speak with an advisor to get the help you need.

Use the Calendly scheduling application below to check for available times and schedule your 20 minute appointment with an academic advisor one day in advance. Before using Calendly, please review the privacy statement regarding your consent to the disclosure and storage of your personal information.

UBC uses Calendly, an online appointment scheduling application provided by Calendly LLC and hosted on servers located outside of Canada (specifically, in the US), to enable current and prospective students to schedule academic advising appointments and discussions. UBC collects some of your personal information (name, e-mail address, and requested discussion topic) in order to schedule an appointment with an appropriate advisor. UBC collects this information under the authority of section 26(c) of BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). UBC requires you consent to disclose your personal information to Calendly and to store and access this information outside of Canada in order to provide you access to Calendly's services. By clicking the "Schedule Event" button, you are granting your consent for your personal information to be disclosed by UBC to Calendly and for that information to be stored and accessed outside of Canada. If you choose to withhold consent or have any questions or concerns about the privacy or security and/or disclosure of your personal information, please contact arts.advisor@ubc.ca.
